Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 17, 2026. This policy describes The Ol' Innkeeper, the Protect the Tavern Discord bot, and this website. The operator is Suepaphly. There is no separate company, mailing address, or contact email. Write to the project's GitHub issues.
This website
These pages do not set cookies, run analytics, or embed third-party trackers. The Add to Discord link sends you to Discord's own authorization page. The fairness verifier runs in your browser. Looking up a roll id requests that public roll from this site. A beacon check requests that round from drand. Pasted seeds stay on the page.
What the bot stores
When you use a command, Discord sends the bot your user id, the server id, and the channel id for that interaction, along with the command or button you used and your Discord username. The bot keeps what it needs to run the game. Records are keyed by Discord user id and held in a Neon Postgres database reached through the bot's Vercel deployment.
Personal game records can include:
- Wallet and bank balances.
- Backpack contents, including weapons, armor, and crystals.
- Character stats (strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, charisma, level, and hit points), skill levels, and feats.
- Quest progress, including the state of an adventure in progress.
- Cooldowns, such as daily rewards, work, death, and boss fights.
- Your troop and trap contributions to the town.
- Short-lived gambling hands, roulette bets, and stimulus claims. Some of those records also copy your Discord username and, for roulette and stimulus, the channel id where the game was started.
- Help and admin menu pages, and the owner-only test-quest setup, kept for a few minutes.
- A fairness roll log: the game, the nonce, your client seed, and the outcome of each random action. You can see your rolls. On a two-player action, the other player can see that roll too. A public lookup shows the outcome only after the server seed is revealed. The published hash and client seed stay visible so a result can be checked. Roll rows older than 180 days are removed. Revealed server seeds are kept.
The town itself is shared: wall counts, troop and trap piles, the monster army, the next invasion time, and similar world state. Those records are not tied to one player. The castle channel id used for invasion announcements is configuration, not a list of members. Each server also stores the channel id and message id of the pinned help menu, so the bot can refresh that pin instead of posting another copy.
The bot does not ask for your email, password, or legal name. It does not read your Discord messages except the slash commands and buttons you send to it. Leaderboards check Discord, at the moment you ask, whether a user id is still a member of that server. That lookup is not saved as a member list.
Why it is stored
The records exist so the game can remember your character, pay you, and continue a quest or a hand after the next click. They are not sold, rented, or used for advertising. There is no advertising profile.
Discord
Discord hosts your account, your messages, and the fact that you invited or used the bot. Discord's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy govern that data. This policy covers only what the bot stores for the game and what this website does, which is nothing beyond serving these pages.
How long it is kept
Character, balance, inventory, skill, and contribution records stay until you ask for them to be deleted, an admin resets them, or the game database is shut down. Some records expire on their own: a quest left unfinished for 30 minutes, a blackjack or poker hand left for about two minutes, a stimulus for about a minute, and a help or test-quest menu for about five minutes. Cooldowns remain until they run out and a cleanup pass removes them. Backups of the database, if the database host keeps them, follow that host's backup window.
Asking for deletion
Open a GitHub issue at Suepaphly/TheOldInn-Keeper and include the Discord user id to delete. Suepaphly will delete the game keys tied to that id. Shared town records, such as the walls and the monster army, stay, because they belong to the server's game rather than to one player. A gambling or stimulus record that names you will be removed or stripped of your id and username when that is practical.
Leaving a server or removing the bot does not by itself delete the database row. Use the issue above if you want the row gone.
Changes
Updates to this policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
